Deputy Chief Executive
As Deputy
Chief Executive Ian is responsible for the organisation’s corporate
functions and for the delivery of the London Thames Gateway
Development Corporation’s economic development and education and
skills commitments.
Ian joined the LTGDC in early 2005 as Chief Operating Officer
and spent much of the first 12 months setting up the finance, human
resources, information technology, corporate planning and programme
office functions.
LTGDC has committed to deliver the necessary infrastructure for
an additional 28,000 jobs in the London Thames Gateway by
2016. Its economic development work focuses on inward
investment and jobs growth to ensure this target is met. The
education and skills work focuses on projects to deliver high
quality education to enable jobs growth, support local communities
and to act as a key driver of regeneration.
Before joining LTGDC, Ian worked at Lehman Brothers, the global
investment bank, for ten years. He held a number of roles at Lehman
Brothers with focus on running project teams and managing the
corporate functions of the Operations division. When he left he was
a senior vice president with responsibility for global project
management and the corporate functions for a division of 1,400
people. While based in London, Ian was actively involved in setting
up and running a number of community based schemes in east
London.
Ian began his career in New Zealand with the Treasury and the
Audit Office.
