Peter Andrews biography

Chief Executive

Peter advises the Board in setting the strategy and is responsible for ensuring the organisation delivers against the plans and policies set by the Board and its sponsor department, Communities and Local Government.  He is also the designated Accounting Officer with personal responsibility to Parliament for financial management and the effective use of public funds.

Peter joined London Thames Gateway Development Committee in 2005, shortly after its formation, and has been responsible for recruiting staff, developing the management team and growing the organisation to enable it to become a highly effective regeneration agency.  A key element in this has been to ensure LTGDC has a high profile and excellent relations with its key stakeholders including national, regional and local government.

Peter is a chartered surveyor with over 25 years experience in the development of complex urban sites.  He joined LTGDC in 2005 from Swindon’s Urban Regeneration Company where he had been Chief Executive since 2003.

After qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1981, Peter moved into property fund management with Warburg Investment Management and then property finance with Bankers Trust Company.  He spent the next 15 years of his career in property development as a director of Dwyer PLC and then European Managing Director for American property group, Tishman International.
