Our Projects
London Thames Gateway Development Corporation has developed a
programme of projects for eight key locations within the Lower Lea
Valley and London Riverside. These eight locations have been
selected because they have been subject to the most market failure
and need outside intervention.
In the Lower Lea Valley the
priority areas are:
- Olympic Arc: A crescent south of the
Olympic Park site in Stratford where thousands of new homes and the
upgrade of Stratford town centre are planned.
- Bromley by Bow: Mixed residential and
commercial development is planned for the Three Mills area, near
Bromley-by-Bow tube station.
- Canning Town and Custom House: An
opportunity to turn a deprived area into wonderful riverside
community with thousands of new homes and shopping facilities.
- Lea River Park: A new, two-mile park
linking the Olympic Park site in Stratford with the River Thames
and providing much needed open public space.
In the London Riverside our priority
areas are:
- Barking: Major town centre
improvements, new creative and cultural industries and extensive
riverside housing development are planned for central Barking.
- South Dagenham: Huge derelict sites
where new industries, particularly green and sustainable technology
businesses will be encouraged to relocate.
- Rainham: A historic village, which
will be modernised while retaining the area’s character.
- London Riverside Park: A conservation
area in Rainham Marshes, which forms the biggest new park in London
for more than a century.
In addition to these developments in our area, we also work to
improve culture, economic development, education and transport.
This ensures that we have the right infrastructure in place to make
new developments successful and improve the quality of life for
local people.
